I found out yesterday that I may be able to pick up a custom .243 from someone in my family. I am told is has a fixed 10 power scope, a Douglas barrel and Mauser action. The stock has cherry and ivory inlay. The owner advised me that the gun was built for him in the 1950's and that he hand loaded 87 grain bullets for it with 42 grains of powder. He stated that this is a tack driver and he used it for strickly woodchuck hunting.
Anyone out there using a .243 for yote and if so, what grain bullet are you shooting. I am going to grab this gun because it is free, and a family gun. But not sure I want to hunt with it, I already own a .223 , a 22-250 , 243, .17 HMR , .22 and a couple of 12 ga.
